Why am I in the old movie mood?  Because this is what I watch Thanksgiving afternoon.  Nothing better than old Miracle on 34th Street while waiting for good food.  Movie makes me so happy!

Katharine Hepburn in the Broadway stage version of The Philadelphia Story.

Katharine Hepburn, facing a downturn in her career, went to Broadway to star in this hit and knowing that studios would soon pick it up, bought the rights. MGM eventually did want the rights to make a movie, and Hepburn said they could have it, as long as she could reprise her role as Tracy Lord in the film. MGM first resisted but gave into letting Hepburn play the role that would eventually earn her an Academy Award nod.
